Tell ACT about your Champions!
ACT has just launched a new Champions Awards scheme designed to recognise excellence in the delivery of services to life-limited children, young people and their families. ACT knows how much parents and carers value the care provided by so many individuals, teams and organisations and wants this hard work to be acknowledged.
ACT is asking children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, as well as their parents, family members and carers to tell them about their ‘Champions’. This is to highlight excellence, good practice and innovation in the delivery of care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families.
An ACT Champion can be nominated online by filling in a nomination form - but please read the guidelines below before submitting your nomination.

The three categories for the nominations are:Best Individual, Best Team and Best Organisation and all nominees must work in England. The Best Individual could be any individual paid or unpaid who has helped a family i.e. a nurse, speech or physiotherapist or a teacher. The Best Team for example could be a team within an organisation, a community nursing team or a medical team. The Best Organisation could be a hospital, a hospice or another charity.
Everyone who makes a nomination will be entered into a £100 prize draw that will take place on 30th May 2008, which is the closing date for nominations.
Each category of award will have a winner and a highly commended. Winners of the ACT Champions Awards will be invited to an Awards Ceremony at the International Children’s Palliative Care Conference (7-9 July 2008) in Cardiff, where they will be presented with their prize.
The prize will be an engraved crystal award and a free place at the International Children’s Palliative Care Conference. This will include two nights accommodation, all meals at the conference, a free place at the Conference Gala Dinner and travel expenses.
Those nominations that receive a “Highly Commended” award will receive a framed certificate.
All nominations must be made by children or young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, or by parents, family members or carers of life-limited or life-threatened children.
An ACT Champions Awards Panel will judge the nominations. Please note that ACT cannot accept nominations for any ACT staff or Trustees. For a full list of these please click here.
ACT will contact successful nominees in early June 2008 but the awards won’t be made public until 7-9th July 2008.
